Ex-Gov x Tyowyn Radnell - Refurbished Bench
Ex-Gov have joined forces with local maker Tyowyn Radnell to create this beautiful bench out of quality rescued materials.
A piece of 100+ year old hardwood rescued from beams in an old Queanbeyan warehouse has been waiting patiently in the Ex-Gov warehouse for the perfect project – and now is it’s time to shine!
Split into two pieces, the hardwood is joined down the middle with a piece of disused steel which has rusted to the perfect colour, the hatched design of the steel contrasts beautifully with the solid aesthetics of the wood.
The steel leg bases are made from an old tool stand that had finally reach the end of its existence, after a lifetime of solid use in the Ex-Gov warehouse. The stand was cut and welded into the square shapes you see now, and the underside of the bench is supported by excess stash clamps also sourced from the Ex-Gov warehouse.
The timber has been sanded, smoothed and polished to perfection, producing a one-of-a-kind bench for your seating and viewing pleasure! And the beauty of these materials is that the bench will age beautifully both indoors and outdoors.
The basis of our business is diverting quality products from landfill and seeing them live out longer lives, so we get a special kick from creating our own pieces, made by our own hands, using quality found materials.
Stay tuned for more refurb jobs, we’re on a roll!
