Kusch+Co 2200 ¡Hola! Chair by Jorge Pensi

“Solutions with a soul.”

This the essence of furniture company, Kusch+Co’s, ethos.

From humble beginnings in the German town of Hallenberg in 1939, this European design company has become an international brand, renowned for its successful creation of timeless, quality design, providing functional seating and table systems.

The original proprietor of Kusch+Co, Ernst Kusch, instilled this “soul” into the business from inception. His innovative design values were underpinned by strong family ties and a deep connection to the company’s roots in Hallenberg (the head office remains there to this day). As the management of Kusch+Co was passed down his son, Dieter, then to his grandchildren Andreas and Ricarda, the strength of the family value continued. In 2019 the business was proudly integrated into the similarly family-oriented Nowy Styl Group, a mutually beneficial partnership that enriched the Group’s portfolio whilst bolstering Kusch+Co’s position in the international spotlight.

Ernst Kusch’s design values of “precise, bold and mindful” were strengthened by his guiding design principle of “quality”. Kusch often used to say, “quality is irreplaceable”, a statement that has lived on within every facet of the company across the decades, and remains to this day.

Over the years Kusch+Co have become known for exploration, learning and meeting challenges head on. Where others would give up, they approach a design “problem” with curiosity instead, ready to ask uncomfortable questions of themselves in order to evolve the design. This inquisitiveness deepens and strengthens not only their design process, but the resulting work.

Their work is also fortified by a strong belief in collaboration. Working with some of Europe’s best designers Kusch+Co have produced many innovative and bold seating solutions.
