Catt & Son Teak Dining Suite
Originally hailing from the UK, the Catt family made Perth home in the 1960’s, the father and son team, Charles (father) and Roy (son), bringing together their individual skills, (Roy in design and Charles in manufacturing) to establish Catt & Son Furniture. They successfully built the Catt brand into a household name synonymous with beautiful contemporary design, superior craftmanship and unique endeavours with unusual materials like the Australian hardwood, Jarrah
Despite being known for their work with Jarrah the Catt’s also did magnificent pieces in teak. In the late 1960’s the Catt’s obtained a major contract to design and manufacture the furniture for the Robertson Library that was being built at the WA Institute of Technology (now Curtin University). It was the largest contract the company had secured and enabled them to expand operations considerably. The majority of the furniture for this project was built using teak.
We have an original Catt teak dining suite available now, consisting of a classic rectangular table and eight dining chairs. The table is a classic design with interestingly designed legs, the accompanying chairs are teak framed and upholstered in a tan leather, with a slightly curved back for extra comfort and understated style. Catt furniture is renowned for being the highest of quality in both design and manufacturing, and this suite is a perfect example – they are built to last.
As most Catt furniture is built using Jarrah, these teak pieces are especially rare and special. And with the Catt business now closed they are now seen as stunning vintage/retro pieces that cannot be recreated. Don’t miss the opportunity to own an item of one of the most sought after mid-century furniture brands, unparalleled in all aspects.
