In 1885 Brownbuilt originally opened its doors as a boot tanning and printing machinery business. The company then moved into distribution of imported office furniture, finally evolving into manufacturing and sales of locally produced, high-quality steel equipment for offices, stores and factories, under the name Brownbuilt Steel Equipment Company. As suppliers of mobile shelving systems since 1950, the Brownbuilt legacy of producing highly functional and high-quality steel storage facilities continues to this day.
